Space/Time

Space/Time

The following images are an exploration of the material properties of the Polaroid emulsion lift process. Often times used arbitrarily over the representational image, the work aims to integrate material and subject matter into a dynamic, and reactionary dialogue. The human figure acts as a catalyst to activate the material and enter into a reciprocal relationship between the physical photograph and the captured image.

Photographed digitally in a large studio space, the subjects were captured to allow the emptiness to transform into potential movement for the hand manipulation of the Polaroid lift. While a number of the images were pre-visualized at the time they were photographed, this project was largely designed to allow for accidents and quirks of my current emotions of the day to appear while I constructed, or more accurately deconstructed, the final image.
