In its constant search for different, innovative proposals, the Mexican journal Picnic organized a competition to portray Mexican DNA. The aim was for photographers to use a portrait to depict what distinguishes and characterizes us as Mexicans.
The competition was designed to encourage the interpretation of and reflection on contemporary reality. This was another opportunity for Picnic to show the public emerging proposals produced by young talent in Mexico.
Images were sent in by photographers from all over the country. The panel of experts, comprising Nadia Baram, Gerardo Montiel Klint and Javier Hinojosa, was responsible for choosing the ten best proposals summarizing what it means to live in a country like Mexico. The Public's Prize, obtained from votes cast on the Internet on our website, www.picnic-mag.com., was also awarded.
We would like to thank all the participants for having contributed to the success of DNA Mexico.
